Renewal Ministries
No matter what you do, where you are, or what stage of life you’re in, God’s people are called to embody the values of God’s Kingdom by serving the common good.
It’s our mission to give glory to God in our everyday lives by demonstrating his goodness and grace in all that we do. While we do that as individuals, sometimes we have to work together as a community, filled with the Spirit of God to be a redemptive force against the brokenness of our culture. Our City Renewal and International Renewal teams lead or partner with these ministries.
City Renewal
Poverty and Homelessness
TPC Feeding Ministry
In 2013, The Parks Church began serving the city’s first regularly occurring warm meal to the homeless and food insecure of McKinney. We need volunteers in food-prep and food service. The meal is served every Sunday afternoon at The Salvation Army. Opportunities for service are weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly.
Bags of fresh groceries are also delivered throughout the city each week. Join the grocery pick-up team or the grocery bag delivery team to make this ministry possible. The grocery pick-up team is in charge of gathering the food items from various community supermarkets throughout the week. The delivery team is in charge of organizing supplies and putting bags together for drop-off each week.
Emmanuel Labor
Emmanuel Labor exists to combat homelessness by modeling the love of Jesus in practical ways that lead to restored lives. Emmanuel Labor focuses on the root cause of homelessness: the breakdown of nuclear relationships. Ultimately, how that breakdown occurs is a mystery, but much can be learned by understanding someone’s story. Often, their solution is in their story. Emmanuel Labor learns the story and builds a plan.
Streetside Showers
This ministry, based in McKinney but serving around the DFW area, seeks to restore human dignity to the homeless community by providing a hot shower and personal hygiene care. They have a number of volunteer opportunities both on- and offsite.
Health
Hope Women’s Center
Hope Women’s Center is a non-profit medical clinic serving Collin County and the surrounding North Dallas area. They provide free medical services and accurate information on all options regarding unplanned pregnancy, including education on abortion, adoption, and parenting. All services provided are free and confidential and include pregnancy test and verification, ultrasounds, STD testing and treatment, options education, post abortion support, and community referral.
Common Good Medical
In response to the overwhelming need for accessible health care in the city, in 2017 we launched a free and charitable health clinic. Beyond providing physical healthcare, our hope is that patients would be cared for spiritually as the gospel is shared and applied. Volunteer opportunities exist in the following areas: nurses, spiritual care, Spanish translators, and administrative volunteers.
At-Risk Youth
TPC @ DAEP
The DAEP (District Alternative Education Program) serves students in grades 1st-12th in the M.I.S.D. They work diligently to provide high-quality instruction as well as encouragement to students, helping them adopt attitudes and behaviors that will help them excel when they return to their home campus. We partner with them by mentoring students on campus once a week, serve as the staff’s PTA, and organize bags of fresh groceries for the students.
Adoption & Foster Care and Special Needs
TPC Adoption & Foster Care
Because God graciously adopted us into his family through Jesus, we hope to reflect God's heart through adoption and foster care. Our ministry team prayerfully supports and equips families by walking alongside them through all stages of adoption and foster care. This includes those interested in adopting and/or fostering as well as those interested in playing a supporting role. We each have a vital part to play in the Biblical mandate to care for vulnerable children. If you’d like to get involved, let us know here.
Cornerstone Ranch
Cornerstone Ranch empowers adults with special needs to live an abundant life through their residential and day program. Their family-centered environment creates a safe place where independence thrives, character grows, and confidence is nurtured.
Embrace
Embrace connects willing hands with opportunities to serve children in foster, adoptive, and kinship care. By partnering with Embrace you’re helping children lingering in the foster care system find the love and stability of a forever family. You’re ministering to foster parents through respite care, support groups, and valuable training. You’re supporting teens who “age-out” of foster care without an adoptive family. When you volunteer or give to Embrace, you’re making a difference.
