Why Read?

All of Scripture, Paul tells us, is breathed out by the Spirit of God. Every word, every thought, every narrative in the Bible teems with the life-giving revelation of God, which powerfully draws us into his story of redemption through Jesus Christ. The Word of God is necessary and sufficient to communicate God’s saving grace, clear enough to make wise even the simple, and authoritative to direct our work in the kingdom of God.

In order to counter the bent of our hearts to make God into our own image and establish ourselves on his throne, we need the full breadth of God’s Word to reposture our hearts in submission to our King. Rather than mining the text for spiritual nuggets, we believe that a reading plan which leads you through God’s full testimony concerning himself will open your mind more fully to his glory and steer your heart more deeply into fellowship with him.

Reading Cycle

Church Calendar

Historically, the Church has organized the yearly calendar not around school semesters, sporting events, or national holidays but around the life and work of Jesus. As far as possible, the theme of each biblical book corresponds to the theme of the “liturgical season” in which it is read in order to better instill those truths about Jesus.

Content

TPC Reads, our daily Bible reading plan, runs on a two-year cycle, Part 1 and Part 2, with daily readings from the Old Testament, a Psalm or Proverb, and the New Testament. Read through the entire OT in two years, the Psalms and Proverbs once a year, and the NT three times a year.

Daily Reading

About the Plan

Daily readings start on Monday of each week and continue to Saturday; each Sunday is a Reflection and Make-up Day with no readings assigned. Use that time to worship with The Parks, reflect on the previous week’s readings, and/or catch up on any readings you might have missed.

Morning. Noon. Night.

In order to wrap your entire day in God’s Word, consider reading different passages of the daily reading throughout the day.

Family Worship

Incorporate one or more of the daily passages into your time of family worship. Read the passage together and discuss how it relates to the big story of God or to the current liturgical season.
